BAROQUE

In this section you can listen to Max’s performances and discussions about the works of Bach, Handel, Scarlatti, and other Baroque period composers.

BACH

When studying for the BMus (Hons) musicology degree at London University, after already graduating as a concert pianist and composer from the Royal College of Music, London, I took the study of J S Bach’s music very seriously. In addition to the usual chorale harmonisation exercises, I included in my final portfolio of compositional exercises, works in the style of Bach. These included a chorale prelude and a complete keyboard suite. I will be presenting in this section some of my performances and discussions of Bach’s Preludes and Fugues, Suites, Partitas, Italian Concerto, etc, as I find time to record or publish them.

HANDEL
SCARLATTI

I won the Scarlatti prize at the Royal College of Music, London, when I was there studying piano and composition. So, I shall be providing some of my recorded performances and discussions of Domenico Scarlatti’s sonatas in this section. I may also provide my opinions, text information, and music scores in flipbook format or similar. I am also a fan of G F Handel, one the first composers whose music I liked as a boy.
