The “Fantasias” are lively concert standard piano pieces posing considerable challenge to the pianist’s technique and musicianship, not least of all the jazzy syncopated rhythms derived from African folk music. For the listener, however, they should be very easy to listen to and appreciate because of their melodious and harmonious style, as well as their light-hearted moods.
